Acorns have started their new topic 'Can we explore it?' this week. The children have begun to look at maps of the world and of the UK. They have linked this to some of their previous knowledge of the globe. The class looked at different styles of maps including how we use maps online to help us when travelling to and from different places. In phonics we have learnt the er and ow sounds and have now learnt most of the Phase 3 sounds. In literacy this week Acorns all wrote independently about Where the Wild Things are. We talked about the key features of a sentence and tried to remember these in our writing. In Art this week we worked together to create a collage of some of the characters from Where the Wild Things Are and in maths this week we have been busy practising our addition and thinking about how to find out how many more of something there is using Singapore Bars. Next week we will be going on a walk up to the woods (weather permitting) and we will be continuing with our poetry lessons on Tuesday, something we are really enjoying currently.
