The first week back had been a busy one for Acorns. We enjoyed listening to each other telling us about Easter holiday adventures and sharing some of the things we did. Then we started to learn about our topic for the next few weeks - Dinosaurs. We were very lucky to have some visitors from Maples who answered lots of our tricky questions about dinosaurs and shared with us some of the things they had learnt about. In our phonics lessons we finished learning the last of our phase 3 sounds including air and ear. We will continue to consolidate our knowledge of these before we move on to phase 4. In literacy we read a story called Ten Little Dinosaurs, then we came up with our own ideas about what might happen in the story. In maths we practised our estimating skills and we continued to improve our counting both forwards and backwards. At the end of the week we made some salt dough dinosaur bones which we will be measuring next week. We also had some new additions to Acorns, two frogs have taken to one of our little tyres so fingers crossed we will get to see the life cycle of a frog in the coming weeks!
