Friday 17th June

We have had a very busy two weeks back with some very interesting 'summer' weather! Some of the children have begun to learn some Phase 5 sounds in phonics this week, including ay, ou and ie. All the children have continued to be heard reading individually and in groups on a Thursday, something which is really helping to develop their understanding of books and their key features. As part of our topic work this week we have been learning how to keep ourselves safe in the sun and we have been busy making boats that float. The children have been making some fantastic tracks with the gutters, exploring how water can be transported from one place to another. In class the children have loved the puppet theatre and they have enjoyed videoing each others performances. Each week we have been starting to link an afternoon with Oaks to help prepare the children for September, the children have all said they have enjoyed the sessions so far and they are getting on really well with the Year 1 children. Finally I would like to thank you for your support in returning your child's learning log on a Wednesday, having three days to share fifteen pieces of work means we can spend quality time looking at each one before returning them all on a Friday.
