This week was the final week of our topic 'Where does snow go?' and with it the perfect timing of a little snow on Sunday. All the children came in telling us about the things they got up to in the snow and were quick to tell us what had happened to it as the day warmed up. With the freezing temperatures on Monday and Tuesday night we made some different ice investigations, we made coloured ice blocks which we painted with, glitter ice blocks to explore how best to melt them and we had a fish stuck in the ice to help escape on the Wednesday morning. In our phonics we have moved on to digraphs (two letters that make one sound) we have learnt ch and sh and next week we will be learning two more digraphs. We introduced writing bags to our independent area provision this week. Inside the bags are sound mats, alphabet strips, various writing tools and paper and also mini finger lasers and googly eyes. All these combined have helped the children to become interested in writing and they have sent some amazing pieces to our resident puppet Mr Rabbit. Next week we will be beginning our new topic exploring reflections.
