The Acorns have completed their first half term of school and were still as enthusiastic and excited about new experiences as they were on their first day! Over the past two weeks the children have been learning new sounds in their phonics lessons, they have learnt the following sounds s,a,t,p,i,n,m, and d. If you ask them hopefully they can show you the actions we use to help us remember them too. In maths this week we have continued to use the Singapore Bar method to help us find out how to add and subtract. We all made our own scarecrows this week, on Wednesday we made collage pictures and on Thursday we made our own mini scarecrows, these are on display in the classroom. We tried to choose some waterproof materials for our scarecrows as we know they would have to be out in the rain. We have also begun to practise writing and reading short words by blending our sounds. Mrs Fuller and I hope the children all have a well deserved rest over half term and come back with lots of stories to tell us!
