The last two weeks have been very busy for the Acorns. On Monday 13th March we received a letter from a Mummy Duck who had to go away for a couple of weeks and she had wondered if we would be able to help look after her unhatched eggs. The children were very excited and keen to help out. We had to make space for the special equipment the eggs would arrive in, we wrote letters to let the Mummy Duck know we would look after them and we had to write some instructions to help keep them safe. The eggs arrived on Tuesday and on Thursday they all hatched throughout the day. We enjoyed watching them hatch and couldn't wait to take them swimming in their second week with us. During the second week we continued to write about their progress, took lots of photos and learnt how to draw pictures of the ducklings. Our favourite part was watching them dive down under the water and we looked at how the webbed feet help them to move in the water. On Friday we said goodbye to them as they were ready to go back to their Mum ready for Mother's Day, we really enjoyed looking after them and we hope they enjoyed the party we held for them on their one week old birthday!
