What a busy week Acorns have had this week! We started on our new topic 'Why can't I have chocolate for breakfast?'. This week we have cooked our own pizzas even making our own base, we helped prepare the toppings and talked about which ingredients and toppings were healthy and which were less so. We have been looking at the traffic light system used on foods and we started to look at creating healthy meal plates. This will be followed up with Mrs Lowe later in the term. In our understanding of the world lessons we have been making chocolate lollies, looking at the effects of heat on different things. In music we played our own tune all using different instruments and in our maths lessons we have been looking at money, recognising coins and paying for small amounts using 1p coins. In our phonics lessons this week we learnt the oo sound, the long version such as in moon and the short version in book. Next week is going to be just as busy with Book Day on Thursday, we are looking forward to seeing the children's costumes and hearing their stories.
