Another two weeks in Acorns has passed and the children are now well settled in the school routines. They have been involved in their first sharing assembly and sat brilliantly whilst the school shared the successes of pupils from each class and presented the Year 6 children with their pupil leader roles. Acorns have walked up the steep hill to All Saint's Church, where they got to walk around the church and ask Mr Malleson some questions about different parts of the church. In phonics the children have begun to listen carefully to the way words sound and have been identifying the initial sounds they can hear, they have also been practicing singing the alphabet song. In maths lessons the children have focused on recognising numbers, counting objects and ordering numbers correctly. The children also began to experiment with mixing different coloured paint, finding out how to make a colour lighter and darker. The class also completed some of their first home learning tasks this week, they enjoyed sharing these with the other children and answering the questions they had about each others learning.
