The children all came back excited to share their stories about what they had been busy doing over the half term break. They all quickly settled back in to our school routines and some of them even had time to bake for the Bonfire Bake Off which was held on Thursday. This week we were busy learning all about Diwali and bonfire night. The children created their own Rangoli patterns using coloured salts and also created some of their own mehndi patterns. We had a quick afternoon of Christmas, creating our cards for a FOTs fundraising opportunity. In our literacy lessons we continued to focus on the sounds we can hear in words and also looked at how signs help us know how to keep safe at events such as bonfire night. In our phonics lessons this week we have learnt the sounds and actions for 'o and g' next week we will continue to develop our knowledge of the sounds in Phase 2. In our maths lessons we have been looking at identifying more or less and then finding one more and one less than a given number. We have also started to explore castles and we looked at the similarities and differences between our homes and castles. Next week we will continue our exploration of castles as well as spending time looking at the significance of 'Poppy Day'.
