Cedars have started their journey through 1066. We began the topic by learning how a new king was elected. Some of the class gave speeches to persuade the Witan to allow them to be king while the rest of the class made the decision. It was decided, following a vote, that Edgar should be king however in real life we know that Harold Godwinson was chosen.

From this, we have started looking at the Bayeux Tapestry and the events leading up to the Battle of Hastings. Cedars have also found out that during this time, the first castles were built. We researched using the internet to find out facts about the original castles and then turned these facts into an information leaflet.

In maths we are getting very good at using column method to add and subtract and will now move onto applying these skills to problem solving.
