A fizz bubbly start!

With half term now a distant memory, we have made a fizz bubbly start to the second half of the summer term. Our topic got started with a treasure hunt - children had to solve riddles to find objects and letters hidden around the playground and then unscramble the letters to reveal the name of the topic - POTIONS!

The highlight for many of the children so far was when we made bath bombs. Although, these didn't appear to work at home as well as we might have hoped, the bath bombs we tested in school were certainly spectacular. The children made close observations about what they saw when the bath bomb was placed in water and then wrote this up as part of scientific enquiry.

We have been writing instructions in literacy. The children soon learned that their instructions need to be really clear when I followed their steps for making a sandwich exactly! The children wrote their own instructions and then were delighted to be given the opportunity to follow these to make their own yummy jam sandwiches.

Elsewhere in the curriculum, we have been training for Sports Day by working together in teams to run relays and in maths we have been testing our thinking skills to solve problems.
