An animal expereince and other learning!

posted 11 Oct 2015, 13:00 by Anna Rust
A few weeks ago Cedars had a visit from a lady who brought her rather interesting pets with her. The children were able to handle skunks, snakes, an African Pygmy hedgehog and a lizard. The sight of the tarantula produced mixed reactions, with half the class removing themselves from the room as quickly as possible! The children asked lots of questions to gain a better understanding of the animals and their care. Following the animal experience we have written a thank you letter and recounts.

In other areas of the curriculum, we have been busy getting to grips with the complex task of column addition and understanding food chains in science. Additionally, the children performed our Harvest Festival song with sign language brilliantly in the Harvest Festival service at church. This week we are going to be putting our learning of Predators into practice by designing our own Predators which have the best survival characteristics. We also hope to have a visit from a vet to learn more about the dietary requirements of animals.

A polite reminder that homework is due in every Thursday and that PE kits must be in school on Mondays and Tuesdays.
