Hola, Mexico

This term we are learning all about Mexico - its traditions, culture and georgraphy.  We have looked at the traditional festival, Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) which takes place at the end of October/beginning of November.  We have learned that, unlike our Halloween festival, the Day of the Dead is very much a happy festival where the lives of loved ones are honoured and celebrated.  Altars are created and decorated in bright colours and flowers, parades take place, people dress up as skeletons (but always with smiling faces) and sugar skulls are created and decorated.  We've also had a go at creating our own sugar skulls (not edible) and decorated them in class.
