Week 2 - working hard

Continuing our Allotment theme, this week we have looked at a map of the local allotment site (which we are hoping to visit later in the term) and listed the co-ordinates of many of the features of the site including finding the plot owned by Mrs Wiemer !  We have also been working hard on researching and writing an explanation text on growing a vegetable of our choice.  In Numeracy, continuing our graph work, we have looked at conversion graphs for converting imperial and metric measurements and at pie charts.  We have also been exploring the rules of divisibility.  Did you know that if the digital root of a number is divisible by 3 then that number is divisible by 3 ? and if the last two digits of a number are in the 4 times tables, then that number is divisible by 4 ?  Maples children do now !

This weeks Rounders game was again enjoyed in the Spring sunshine and the whole class showed a huge improvement in their game play, working much better as a team and showing a better understanding of the tactics of the game.

We also had a visit from The Safety Centre to discuss legal and illegal drugs and how we keep ourselves safe.

Of course, throughout all of this we are aware that SATS are rapidly approaching and we continue to work hard to prepare our Year 6 children for these important tests.
