Oaks ended this week with a walk up to the church and into the woods, the children brought cameras and binoculars to help them capture images of their journey. Other children created journey sticks and collected interesting items in bags ready to help them draw a map in the coming week. In literacy the children designed their own adventure story using a story mountain or a storyboard to plan first. After watching some video clips and reading some stories linked to tunnels to generate their ideas they all planned and wrote their stories, all the teachers were very impressed by their language choices and the range of fantastic punctuation that was used. In maths this week Oaks have been learning about collecting, recording and displaying data. It started by sorting smarties and creating a pictogram and by the end of the week the children were choosing their own questions to ask and then showing their results on a bar chart. In DT the children have been designing bridges using newspaper, they had to try and make their bridge as strong as possible. In PE they continued to develop their hockey skills and gymnastic skills. Finally in music this week the children used the laptops to help them compose their own group piece. Another very busy week!
