Acorns and Oaks mini-beast hunt

posted 13 May 2016, 06:47 by Deputy Head
Last week the Acorns and Oaks children were very lucky to be invited to Mr Leeming's (Acorns link Governor) garden on a mini-beast hunt. This trip allowed for the Acorns children to become more familiar with the Year 1 children and also Miss East and Mrs Doolan. On the trip the children collected different mini-beasts in pots for them to examine on their return to school, they had also made new homes for the mini-beasts in preparation for their return to school. The children found a wide range of mini-beasts from tadpoles in the pond to newts, frogs, centipedes and lots of woodlice. The children really enjoyed exploring the gardens and ticked everything off they had on their sheets. Some of the children wrote thank you letters to Mr Leeming, for the invitation, on their return to school as we definitely wouldn't have found so many mini-beasts if we had stayed on school grounds.
