This year to commemorate 100 years since the first Armistice Day, we have learned about the sacrifices made by brave young people, who risked and sometimes gave their lives in war, so that we may live in peace. Today the whole school attended a short service at the village war memorial, along with members of the police force, governors and parents. Princess and Lennox, helping us to reflect on the significance of the poppy, read remembrance poems. Victor led the exhortation; They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old. Our head boy and head girl, Ben and Millie laid the school wreath of remembrance on the memorial and a 1 minute silence was observed as we paid our respects to all soldiers past and present, who have fought and are still fighting. |
