On Friday 14th June, 35 children from across KS2 took part in an athletics event against other schools in MK. For many children, it was the first time that they have participated in an athletics event competitively at a proper athletics track. The events ranged from sprints to endurance runs, throws, jumps and relays. All of the children show courage and determination to overcome their nerves and they agreed that it was an enjoyable experience that they would like to repeat. Of particular note, Samuel came second in his 200m heat and Princess won the 800m event.

A few quotes from children in Cedars:

"We cheered people on when they were competing. I enjoyed relay the most because I could run fast." Janice

"When I got there, I had to do the vortex throw. To be honest, it was quite tricky, but I tried. After that, I did the 75m run. I did well. Lastly, I did the relay. We could improve for next time but overall we did well." Michael

"The athletics completion was challenging but I did it. The relay was hardest because there were a lot of really fast children." Dan

"On Friday we went to an athletics competition. I enjoyed the triple jump the most because we got to jump into a sand pit and I have never done that in a competition before. I also liked cheering other children on because it is fun." Kara

"At athletics I did the 150m run. It was hard and I had to wait a long time but it was worth it. I loved it." Jess
