Hooray - Target achieved !

posted 29 Sept 2016, 00:45 by Bow Brickhill   [ updated 29 Sept 2016, 00:45 ]

FOTS are pleased to announce that since being reformed in March 2015 (was it really only 1 and a half years ago ??)  we have managed to raise sufficient funds to purchase a class set of 32 Learn Pads to support and further the use of ICT within the school.
This would not have been possible without the support of the children, parents, members of FOTS and staff at the school and we would like to say a HUGE thank you to everyone for all your efforts.  In addition to purchasing the Learn Pads, FOTS have also funded the purchase of the Year 6 leavers bibles and will continue to contribute towards the cost of coaches for the whole school trip to the pantomime.
We will now turn our efforts to fundraising for new projects - keep your eyes peeled for details of this term's exciting events.

A round up of this half terms events

Phew !  What a busy half term we've had !
Our fundraising efforts this half term started with the School Summer fete which took place on June 12th.  The weather unfortunately, was not kind to us, so the fete took place inside rather than out.  We still had a good turn out though and a fun afternoon was had by all.  We raised approximately £780 in total so well done everyone.
Our next fundraiser was the Car Wash at the Bow Brickhill Pavilion on July 10th organised by Mr Chaney.  A steady queue of cars were scrubbed and polished by a willing band of volunteers whilst refreshments were served by Mrs Chesse.  Again a fantastic effort and we raised £150.
Our last event of the year was the School Disco which took place on the 15th July.  The event was very well attended with the Disco supplied by "Oh What a Night".  Well done to all those that helped on the evening - I think we can all agree that the children had a fantastic time.
We are hopeful that we have now raised enough money to buy a set of laptops for the school and this is currently being looked into - so well done everyone and thank you for your support.  Fundraising will continue from September but hopefully for a new project !  Keep your eyes open for details.
Hope you all have a good Summer and that the weather stays kind to us.

Eyes Down for an emoji house

Our Children's Picture Bingo night took place last Friday at school.  The event was very well attended with over half the school there.  The children had an amazing evening - getting very excited every time one of the emoji pictures from their cards were called and Mrs Chesse's descriptions and acting were something to behold !  Food was delivered by Deep Blue Fish and Chip Shop and was really enjoyed by all.  At the end of the evening, all of the children said that they would wish to attend another Bingo night as they had so much fun !
Well done to everyone who made this event happen.

And a full house it was on the 5th February for our Adult Bingo night which again proved to be a huge success and a great night of entertainment.
A massive £525 was raised.
Thank you to everyone who attended and to all who helped towards getting the night organised and running the event.  A special thank you should go out to Martin (Mrs Chesse's son) who yet again travelled up from London to be our Bingo Caller for the evening - and what an amazing job he did !

Latest News from FOTS

The Bingo night and Easter Egg tombola, raffle and teas and hot cross buns raised an amazing £704.40.  A very big thank you to all who contributed to both of these events.

Our next fundraising event will be a Rags2Riches4Schools collection.  Rags2Riches4Schools collect all items of clothing, cuddly toys, jewellery, bedding and household linen, towels and accessories and much more which then generates funds for the school. So if you are having a clear out of clothing, please hang on until the half term when we will send home collection bags.  These can then be returned to the school on the 17th June, which is when Rags2Riches4Schools will collect.  Further details will follow.

We are also in the process of organising some other events for this term, so keep your eyes peeled for details of these.

Many thanks again

We are pleased to announce that the Friends of the School (FOTS) has been reformed and will be actively working with the school to help at and promote events that take place.  You should have all see a copy of the FOTS letter recently sent home, which listed a number of activities which are being considered including some events for families and some which are adult only.

The first fundraising activity which will be taking place is a Bingo night, to be held on the 20th March.  This is an ideal opportunity for parents to meet and socialise with other parents from the school, whilst having some fun playing Bingo and raising funds for the school.  Prizes will be available for winning games and wine and soft drinks will be on sale. Friends and family are also welcome. although this first event is an adult only one. Posters are on display around the school and tickets are on sale now.
