Our School's Distinctive Christian Character
We believe that our Christian values not only make us who we are at Bow Brickhill CE Primary School but also impact on all aspects of school life. As a church school, we have Christian beliefs and values at the heart of everything. This means that every child and adult associated with the school is not just important because they are associated with the school but also because they are seen as unique individuals within God’s creation.
At Bow Brickhill CE Primary School, we recognise that as well as the children’s academic and emotional needs, they have spiritual needs which also must be nurtured so that every individual can make sense of the world, the gift of life and the purpose of their own personal lives. We believe that as each child grows in mind, body and spirit as will their confidence to be aspirational, independent and creative learners who enjoy their work and achieve in all aspects of their education during their time with us.
Our 6 Christian values of Respect, Kindness, Responsibility, Honesty, Courage and Forgiveness are embedded daily into our school life. All members of our school, children, staff, parents and governors are encouraged to share and celebrate these values. Frequently talked about and used to promote learning, our Christian values are linked to the teachings of Jesus and stories of the Bible with the children encouraged to recognise how they can implement each value into their own lives.
Our distinctive Christian character shapes the relationship between all members of the school community and is reflected in our Relationship and Positive Behaviour Policy and the restorative approach we follow when, as with all communities, mistakes are made or people fall out. We believe in a loving God who forgives and wants to restore relationships, therefore we forgive one another and move on. Our Christian character and school ethos is often positively remarked on by visitors and allows the children to make their own informed personal choices, preparing them for the next step in their education.
Our school motto, ‘Growing together in knowledge, love and faith’ reflects the journey all members of our school community join in, as we welcome those of all faiths and none.
